Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using Kontendor.

Getting Started

What is Kontendor?

Kontendor is a unified platform that allows you to track and share scores for practically any type of competitive event, not just sports. Professional and college leagues, local and community groups, hobbies, charity events, and even the most casual matchups you have with family and friends all live side by side in one feed.

Is Kontendor free to use?

We offer a free Basic Plan that lets you track one active team or player and two active Custom Trackers. Premium is a paid tier that unlocks unlimited tracking abilities, including custom trackers. With custom trackers, you can even create Series and Seasons for your events, larger rosters for events, add streaming & ticket links, and more.

What events are officially covered?

See the Current Coverage page for the full, up-to-date list of confirmed official feeds — major U.S. and international leagues, college sports, and many other types of competitive events (chess, Rubik's Cube, and more).

Following & Your Feed

What's the difference between following a league, a team, and a player?

Following a league (or tournament) adds every event of every team involved. Following a team or player adds only the events they are expected to appear in. For instance, following a player will not only show you their regular "club" events but also special regional, national, or international events they participate in. If an event is covered by more than one entity you follow, it only shows up once. Each score card shows you which entity you follow added the event to your feed.

If I unfollow a team, league, or player, why is it still showing up in my feed?

Something else you follow still covers that event. For example, you unfollowed a team but still follow its league, or unfollowed one player while still following their opponent or that opponent's team. Unfollowing only removes an event once nothing you follow covers it anymore. You can also hide a specific event without unfollowing anything.

What is Spoiler Protection?

A global or per-event toggle that hides scores and results until you're ready to see them. Turn it on from the sidebar, and reveal any hidden score by clicking it.

Custom Trackers

Can I track a non-traditional sport or activity?

Yes. The "Other / Custom" event type supports any number of scoring periods and either team or individual/group participants, so you can track literally any competitive activity, sporting or not.

What's the difference between a One-Time Event, a Series, and a Season?

A One-Time Event is a single competition. A Series is a sequence of events organized around a concept, tour, or theme. A Season is a progression of events tied to a fixed annual calendar. Series and Season are containers — following one automatically follows every event attached to it, and their privacy setting overrides any attached event's own setting.

How do I share my tracker with others?

Every tracker gets a short Tracker Key and a scannable QR code on its manage page. Share either one and anyone can instantly follow it, public or private, since a Tracker Key or QR code bypasses the public search requirement entirely.

How long is a Custom Tracker kept before it's removed?

Standalone events are kept for 1 year after their scheduled date. Series and Seasons are kept for 90 days after the last attached event — matching how we retain official season data.

Account & Billing

How does Premium billing work?

Premium subscriptions (monthly, seasonal, or annual) are billed automatically on a recurring schedule. Manage or cancel your subscription any time from Settings > Subscription & Billing.

Can I customize accessibility settings?

Yes. Theme (dark/light/system), high contrast, a dyslexia-friendly font, reduced motion, and color blindness filters are all available from Settings > Preferences & Accessibility.

What is Vacation Mode?

A temporary timezone override in Settings. Set your home timezone once, then toggle Vacation Mode on with a traveling timezone (and an optional end date) whenever you're somewhere else — every event time on the site updates to match, in either 12-hour or 24-hour format.

What does KompIQ (AI) include, and is it free?

KompIQ is Kontendor's built-in AI, available on Premium plans. This tool offers spoiler-safe written recaps of what's finished and what's coming up, natural-language Discover search ("who is Messi playing next"), and an assist that fills in a new Custom Tracker from a plain-English description. It also assists in finding your favorite players, teams, leagues, and tournaments at once from a plain-English description. Everything else on the site, including Live Score Controls, full-screen presenting, and push notifications, is available free on every tier.

Can I get notifications, and can I install Kontendor as an app?

Yes to both. Turn on push notifications from Settings to get alerted even when Kontendor isn't open in a tab. Just make sure Kontendor is allowed to send notifications in your browser, and on mobile, add it to your home screen first. Kontendor can also be installed like a native app on desktop and mobile, no app store required. See the Get the App page for setup instructions for your specific device and browser.
